Amazing Facts About Albert Einstein
* He was a fat, cuddly baby with a rather big and oddly shaped head. His parents were alarmed at first until the physician assured them that the boy's head would become more regular in shape in a few weeks, which, thankfully, it did.
* His interest in science was triggered by a compass his father gave him when he was five years old. He was so fascinated by the fact that whichever way the case was turned, the needle always pointed in the same direction.
* He had an illegitimate daughter, named Liserl, with Mileva Maric whom he later married. The fate of Liserl remained unknown up to this day. Some say she died of scarlet fever as an infant; some say she was put up for adoption.
* Before their divorce, he made Maric agree to a strange contract while they stayed together under one roof. The agreement included having his clothes clean and in order, getting his meals brought to his room three times daily, having no intimate relations with his wife, and Maric agreeing to stop talking to Einstein if he so requested it.
* He had a stormy relationship with his oldest son, Hans Albert. Hans resented his father's treatment of his mother, and the fact that when Einstein won the Nobel Prize for physics, Einstein only gave Maric the accrued interest rather than the principal sum. Also, Einstein objected to his son's choice of a wife whom he thought was unattractive and much older for Hans.
* Einstein married his first cousin (and paternal second cousin) Elsa Lowenthal.
* The deeper Einstein got into his quest for the fundamental theories of physics and the more known he became, the messier his hair got! Queried about his hair which looked like he had stuck a finger into a light socket, Einstein reportedly quipped, ""It is the result of doing nothing with it."
* Einstein was absentminded, in fact, he became an "icon for distractedness." While travelling on a train in Germany, the conductor approached him, so Einstein started searching his pockets for the ticket.
* A few days after the young Einstein stayed at his friend's house, his friend's mother rang Einstein's mother.
* The good thing was that, the reluctant celebrity found a clever way to deflect the attention.
